(11) DEDICATION SERVICE (BADGES)
(All candidates and spouses/sponsor move forward)
The leader shall say:
My brothers in Christ,
In accordance with governing rules regarding acceptance into the membership of P.C.M.F, it is required that a member serves a probationary period before receiving the official Badge of this Fellowship.
You have served that period and proved yourself to be someone to whom the Fellowship can entrust the keeping of the official emblem of this organization, and trust that you will not feel ashamed to uphold the aims of the Fellowship wherever and whenever you may find yourself and at all times.
Let us now ask you the appropriate questions pertaining to this undertaking:-
In accepting this Badge, do you promise to uphold all the objectives of the Fellowship, willingly and in fear of God and forever to act, so that others may come to the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ?
Yes, I do, God being my helper
Do you promise that whenever you wear this Badge you will portray how a faithful member of this Fellowship should be like in his behaviours at all times?
Yes, I do God being my helper
May or Lord be pleased, he who called you all to work with Him. May he protect you and give you the power to fulfill the promises you have made regarding this army of PCEA men.
DEDICATION OF THE BADGES
(Each candidate holding his Badge by his right hand raises it high and then prayer shall be said as follows:-)
Oh Lord our God, we present these Badges to you, to cleanse and set them apart from all unholy works. We pray that you will make these badges to be instruments of preaching your good news to all who will wear and to all who will
see them worn. We pray that each of these men will be a sign of a soldier of the army of Christ, who has offered himself to serve you with his body, talents as well as his possessions. We believe you have now set them apart be descending upon them the power of the Holy Spirit in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, Amen.
PINNING THE BADGE
The spouse/sponsor assist. (The spouses/sponsors take their seats while the candidates remain standing.)
All candidates kneel.
Oh my God and of our Fathers, we are grateful for the way these brothers have heard and responded to your call to labor in this Fellowship of Presbyterian Men; on our part, we now commit them into your hands, so that you may give them assurance wherefore they hesitate, increase their hope and your faith, where somehow they find themselves weak, open their mouths, giving them appropriate words to all those they will interact with in this Ministry, when they work with their hands increase in them the physical strength as well.
Bless their families so that they too may be co-workers in this vineyard, as they use their various gifts may they too prosper and grow spiritually as they continue to serve others.
Cloth them with the garments of victory in Christ, in this Ministry and your Church along with the people they shall serve, may they glorify and praise your name, the God of eternity. May it please you to make them useful instruments in your house, in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN
(111) COMMISSIONING SERVICE (PRESENTATION OF THE FELLOWSHIP UNIFORM) (PCMF BADGE & BLAZER)
At the appropriate part of the Service, the Minister shall say:-
Members of this congregation, brothers and sisters, as a final stage in the commissioning to full communicant members of P.C.M.F, we are going to present these men with the Fellowship Uniform.
To you my fellow members, as you enroll into the army of God, remember the
Words of Apostle Paul “endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer” 2 Tim. 2:3.
To succeed in your service to God, your family must remain and act as a component part of what you do and what you stand for, hence the importance of your family appearing here with you today. May I now ask you to hold that Fellowship Uniform together. The tie represents the belt that the Israelites wore that extraordinary night. The blazer is a reminder of the man’s priestly role in the family as we dedicate them to be used in the Lord’s Service.
PRAYER DEDICATING THE UNIFORM
Our gracious heavenly Father, you have called these men to become soldiers of your Kingdom, grant that the Fellowship Uniform now held before you by their family, be set apart by the invocation of your Holy Spirit, and that he who wears it may always remember the responsibility he carries in his family, his Church and community.
Encourage him to say “NO” to all negative and “YES” to all positive actions, which discredit of glorify your Holy Name. May this be a joint venture with his family, each one playing appropriate role as a member of one body. Hear this our prayer of faith, which we offer in the Name of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. AMEN
You are required before God and His church to answer these questions I put to you.
- Do you reaffirm the vows you took when you were dedicated into the PCMF?
Answer: YES I DO
- Will you be a good example to others, and trying in every way to extend the church and kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Answer: YES I DO
- In making these vows, do you rely on God’s help, knowing that when Jesus Christ returns in glory, you will be called to account for your service?
Answer: YES I DO GOD BEING MY HELPER
